Frustration, Friends and Fun

Where to start .. this has been a frustrating week. Still no news on the house front and am busy looking for another house as things are not looking like they going to work in my favour. I am a believer in karma and it will get those who deserve it most!!! Friday the end of the week and the start of a five day weekend for me. What a fun night out with friends. Dinner at Dumpling King in Adelaide's China Town followed by Avenue Q. What a hoot!! A show to be seen by all!! Saturday, a day of rest, lunch at Henley Beach and a nice quiet night ahhhh, followed by a lovely sunny day in Stirling, shared with friends and good music ;-) I had a minor meltdown today and feeling was kinda sorry for myself but things turned around when I went to look at some rentals which were promising. Lots of kind and supportive words by my good friends which made me feel a lot better. Thanks for being so good to me and putting up with me during this time. Tomorrow brings another big day with more houses to look at Australia Day celebrations @ Maria's abode. Fingers crossed that one of these houses has my name on it :-) Keeping as positive as I can ... watch this space for updates.

Toosday

Today has been a good day. Surprisingly I even had a good day at work ... hmm did I just say that???

Loving the cooler weather and love that my car got a very well deserved wash in the rain. Hmm maybe the cleaning fairy will visit overnight and vaccum the inside.

A little tired and thinking that an early night might be on the cards for me. I need to preserve my energy for what is going to be a very busy but fun end to the week. I love birthdays, always love to celebrate and have fun. It's good to see that my friends are catching up to me hehe

Let's see what tomorrow brings ....

Monday .. a new week ... a new challenge

Up early this morning ready to face the challenges that face me this week. Determined not to give in I met with the solicitor again to have a final go at negotiating with the Vendors who are being stubborn to say the least. Tomorrow a caveat goes on the property and they would have received correspondence today advising that if they are not willing to negotiate they would be facing civil action. Not only did I meet with the solicitor but the Senior partner of the firm came in to meet me and confirm that I had a very strong case and that the Vendors have been unreasonable in their given timeframes. Woo!!!

My resolution for 2010 - Not to let people walk all over me or take advantage!

Bring it on ... I am ready for the fight!!!

Where did the time go???

Well judging from my last blog 2009 must have been an extremely busy one for me. Not one blog the entire year!! My bad!!

It is now 2010 and hopefully the start of bigger and better things.

2009 didn't end very well for me and so far this year my limits have been pushed to their boundaries.

I sold my house last year and was supposed to move into my new house on 11 December. Due to the incompetance of my original mortgage broker things havent gone to plan and as at today I an still homeless.

I am extremely grateful to my wonderful friends who have been there to support me every step of the way not only in providing me with a bed to sleep in and a roof over my head but also a shoulder to cry on. I consider my girls to be my sisters and my Adelaide family. I would be lost without them.

2010 is going to be a better year for all and I am feeling confident in facing the challenges that lie ahead.

Big thanks to Maria, Charlie, Bruce, Jim and Gerry for being so supportive. I love you guys. You are truly my Adelaide family.

((hugs))

What a Year ... Bring on 2009

Bless me Blog, it has been a while since I last posted something.

2008 has been a very challenging year for me. It was the start to a new life on my own and and has been filled with many ups and downs.

I began the year thinking that I would be ok on my own, I would manage and be able to look after myself. I am a stubborn person and don't like to admit defeat. I have now accepted that living on my own is something I can no longer afford to do.

A very wise man said to me a little while ago to "GOYA!" - get of your arse!! I thank you my dear and cherished friend.

I accept that there are somethings that I cannot change and are beyond my control but those that I can, I will.

So ... I will be looking for a housemate to ease the financial burden ... Any/All recommendations will be welcome ;-)

My resolution for 2009 is to be positive and move forward towards achieving stability in my life.

I have met some wonderful people and have made some great friends in the latter half of 2008 and look forward to sharing more fun times together.

My eldest daughter, Marissa, not only turned 18 this year but wrote her HSC. She excelled in her results and I am extremely proud of her.

My youngest daughter, Stephanie, turned 12 and celebrated her Batmitzvah. She made me very proud in her delivery of her speech and in the confident young lady she has become.

Marissa heads off overseas next year for at least 10 months and whilst I will miss her very much it will be an experience of a lifetime for her.

I hope that all my friends have had a wonderful Christmas and that 2009 is a good year for all.

((hugs))

Support - What's that?????

Apologies if anyone thinks I am looking for sympathy ... I AM NOT. I am writing this to get it off my chest and to help raise awareness.

I am pleased to see that more focus is being placed on removing the stigma towards how depression is perceived and that a greater awareness/understanding is being placed on mental illness.

I had a bad day today. I rang my mother for a chat and some "support" only to be told, "Pull Yourself Together!" and "You can't behave like this!". I was teary and emotional. I know in my heart and head that it was a bad day and it would pass but it is not what I needed to hear from her. I find it extremely frustrating as it is almost as if my mother will not accept that something or someone in her life is not PERFECT!!!

Yes, I know I am an adult
Yes, I am independent
Yes, I have a job
Yes, I have two beautiful daughters

BUT

YES Mom, I have depression ... deal with it. I have to.

I accept that I have down days. I know the ups outweigh the downs. I have great friends and enjoy fun times spent with them.

Why is it that some people just can't understand that depression is a illness not a disease that one can catch?

I guess I have learnt who I can depend on ... and as the Beatles said "I get by with a little help from my friends"

I am including a link to a song that always seems to make me feel better.
